Free & Reduced-Price Meal Applications
for the 2023-2024 School Year

The Child Nutrition Department will begin the process of collecting meal applications for all students for the 2023-2024 school year on July 1, 2023. Free and reduced-priced meals are available for all eligible students. If you feel your child may be eligible, please apply online at www.schoolcafe.com or complete a paper application and return it to the school or the Child Nutrition Office at the Administration Building.

A new family application must be filed each school year.  Complete only one application per household.

Early processing assures that qualifying students will be receiving meal benefits for the complete school year. You must reapply, even if your children have been on the program during the past year. Meal status benefits from the previous year will stop after the first 30 days of school.

Children in households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits (formerly the Food Stamp Program) or TANF can get free meals regardless of your income. Your benefit letter from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is your documentation for free meals. If you have not received a letter from Nederland ISD by July 31, 2023 stating that your student is eligible for free meals, you may take your HHSC benefit letter to the Child Nutrition office to be certified for free meals.

Meal applications are available at the Child Nutrition office located at:

Nederland ISD Administration Building
Child Nutrition Department
220 17th Street, Nederland
409-724-2391 ext. 1226
